My dream was to work from home.
When I closed my eyes, I envisioned myself with the freedom to choose my own schedule, to wear whatever I wanted and to be able to travel someday.
But for some reason that seemed impossible to obtain… until I discovered phone sales.
I had been working an hourly job before then, making minimum wage while juggling school and taking care of my Dad.
I liked the job but needed flexibility and contemplated driving for Uber or Lyft. Unfortunately, my car wasn’t equipped to handle that kind of work, so I looked for other forms of 1099 job opportunities.
After applying to several different sales jobs, I ultimately ended up working for Zambuki and my life has never been the same since.
Fast forward to 2020, it only took a global pandemic for the world to realize that hiring remote sales representatives could cut costs and improve productivity.
While some companies scrambled to adjust, Zambuki’s sales team was thriving.
We had already been remote for years and knew exactly what to do.
Unfortunately, not everyone believes they have the luxury to stay home and still earn an income.
Not long ago, I spoke to a cashier who referred to himself as “dispensable” when I asked if he was concerned about getting sick.
This person, much like myself at some point, was under the impression that a career in sales requires a background in marketing.
My advice was to apply anyway.
I was definitely nervous when I started at Zambuki and took about a week to learn the script.
Even after I made my first sale, I still wondered “Am I doing this right?”
Yet sale after sale, I realized that my clients all had something in common: they enjoyed talking with me. We had made a connection and they were happy with the service.
Sales have changed a lot over the years. The idea of a boiler room sales floor has aged into what is now a more consultative approach. We don’t intimidate people into buying our products. We educate them and guide them towards the best possible option for their budget and ultimately, their business.
What a lot of people don’t know is that sales are the backbone of any marketing strategy. It is the most important department in any functional enterprise.
Why? Because we are the voice of the company.
If you work in the service industry, you know how to sell. You know your clients and most certainly can hold a conversation. Believe it or not, sometimes that is all you need in order to start a career in phone sales.
Best part? You don’t have to get sick to pay your bills.
While some people might not think they have what it takes to do sales, you would be surprised to see what a little bit of persistence and a lot of positivity will get you in this industry.
That is why I made a list of three major aspects that make phone sales the fastest ticket to working from home:
1) Make as much money as you want.
If you could write your own paycheck, what would it say?
Working in sales is perhaps the only situation where you have total control over how much money you can make.
Now this, of course, depends on motivation and persistence.
But what’s more inspiring than never having to put a mask on for work?
Times have certainly changed and so have phone sales. It’s no longer an uphill battle to get folks on the phone. If anything, we are connecting with clients faster than ever.
Picture this: You’re in a parking lot. You have Uber, Lyft, Postmates and all the other apps on and you still haven’t gotten a job. Eventually you cut your losses and drive home.
In phones sales, there’s no sitting and waiting for a client. There’s just you and an infinite amount of prospects that will be provided for you.
Bottom line: Money is yours for the taking when it comes to phone sales.
Sales is a field that provides great earning potential, as it offers the ability to control how much money you can make.
Of course, this depends on factors such as motivation and persistence. Nevertheless, the allure of being able to write your own paycheck is undoubtedly enticing.
With the rise of technology, phone sales has become an increasingly popular field.
Compared to the past, connecting with clients on the phone is no longer a difficult task. It is now easier than ever to reach potential customers, making phone sales a highly lucrative and accessible industry.
One of the benefits of working in phone sales is the abundance of prospects. Unlike waiting in a parking lot with no job offers, in phone sales, you can receive an infinite number of prospects.

2) Flexible scheduling.
Online telemarketing jobs aren’t the only things based at home. With many states doing at-home learning, parents are struggling to find the time to help with classes along with maintaining a full-time job.
Luckily, phone sales can be flexible and depend on certain time-zones. So if you have to spend certain hours making sure your kids finish their modules, you can still manage to make calls and carry out your business throughout the day.
The same applies if you are the one taking classes! When I started in sales, I was putting myself through film school and still managed to juggle both while maintaining a high retention record.
